Dr. James Stewart House

Dr. James Stewart was Portal's first doctor.  He built this house in 1909 around the same time that he built the drug store.  Dr. Stewart moved his whole family from Crawfordville, GA to Portal, GA and was an instrumental part of getting the town of Portal incorporated.  In April 1993, the Dr. Stewart Houses was place on National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
